I was just wondering what it exactly is for I know they are wrapped up all tight but is it for a newborn in a bassinet or a crib or whats the purpose of them?

it prevents the startle reflex which often wakes a nb prematurely; it also reminds them of the snugness of the womb and makes them feel safe..
i highly recommend the 'swaddle me' by kiddoptamus; they are great and they aren't expensive, we only bought two and used them everynight for a few mos and they look new and worked like a charm; i think they are why my baby has always slept through the night....ten bucks at babies r us
