Several questions about car seat & base?
We took our newborn out for her first check up yesterday and had a hard time w. the car seat & car seat base? We lost the instructions and I've been online trying to figure it out but I still don't know! My questions are...
1) What is the use of the car seat base? Why do they say it's the "additional" base?
2) Can we use the car seat w.o. the car base?
3) How do you attach the seat & base together? How do you deattach?
& 4) When you put the seat belt on, do you just put it across the car seat?
Please help!
Additional information- We purchased the Graco SnugRide 32. (Lemon Grass)
1) the car seat base is to help you get a better install every time. Once you install the base, you only have to click the car seat in and out each time. This leaves less room for error than strapping in the seat each time
2) For your seat, yes. Not all infant carriers allow this
3) The instructions will provide better detail, but once the base is installed, you should be able to simply set the seat inside it and it will 'click' into place. To detach, there should be I believe a red handle on this particular seat that you will pull on to take out the seat.
4) When installing the seat alone without the base, yes the seat belt is pulled across the top of the seat. There are two notch type plastic pieces on the sides of the seat, the seat belt goes under these. You will want to tighten the belt and lock it to secure the seat in place. Please refer to the instructions (I'm linking below) for a more detailed description.
