Sling Full Padded

Actually, as an avid baby-wearer and baby wearer advocate ... I would actually advise against it.
Considering the design and where the elastic bands are placed it would NOT be safe to carry a newborn infant in. Newborns can very easily suffocate in a sling where the elastic bands are on both sides. Nearly any carrier/sling you buy in a mass production store is likely to be unsafe- this includes the snugli, and baby bjorn.

Newborns need to be close to your chest, so that is really great you are looking into slings/carriers for your newborn. For a newborn, I usually recommend to my clients a moby carrier, which is about 6 yards of fabric you wrap around your body. If you are heart set on a sling, I would recommend a ring sling, a homemade one is fine, so long as they do not use craft rings, otherwise a maya wrap is a quality brand name.

A safe and effective carrier is not purchased for a $1 on ebay- safe carriers can range from $30- $150.
