Baby won't take naps! Should I just let her cry?
I am about to go insane. My little girl is almost 5 months old. She won't take naps. It is in the afternoon and she has been up since 4AM this morning. She has taken one 20 min nap since. She has been screaming at me for the past two hours because she is tired. I know she is tired because she keeps rubbing both her eyes and she just looks so sleepy. I have tried getting her sleep in my bed, her bed, her swing and the playpen. I have tried her on your back, on her stomach, and wrapped up. Is there anything else I can try. I don't know if I should let her cry it out. I have read so many things about it and it seems like most people are 50/50 on letting her cry. I haven't let her cry for longer than 5 min. Should I try letting her cry it out to see if this works? How long do you let them cry? I don't know what to do. She just screams everyday. I can get her to nap for at least 1 hour 1-2 times a week and on those days she is great. Thanks!
Get a sling and go for a walk. It will lull her to sleep, and get you both some relaxing fresh air. Don't let her cry it out, by responding to her, you are teaching her you are there for her when she needs it. This will help her trust you in the long run, maybe even helping her sleep longer because she will know you will be there if she needs you.
