Asking doctor before formula switch?? Similac Advance Earlyshield?
SO....my son would never latch for breastfeeding(after god know how many visit by a lactation consultent), so i pump and feed him with a bottle. I also give him about 6 ounces of similac advance. SO total he gets about 22-24 oucnes of BM and 6 ounces of formula. Well, i am beyond stressed trying to keep up with pumping and then feeding him and tending to my other kids. So i am thinking of switching to formula full time. But i would like to switch him to that new Similac advance early shield. Don't you think i should call the doctor and ask her about completely switching before i do so? Just maybe call the nurses line? Also, has anyone used Similac advance Earlyshield
Well i do know that there is new ingredients in this formula. DHA/ARA were kind of not thought of as a big deal at first and now every infant formula has it...
I do not know much about Similac Early shield other than it markets itself as being closer to breastmilk than ever (which I laugh at....I formula feed full-time myself (and use Similac), but NOTHING will ever take the place or even be close to breastmilk), but I do know this. They brought this product on the market at the same time they downsized their cans. What was once a 25.7oz can of powder is now a 23.2oz can of powder....for the same price, except at Target....Target did adjust their price. I personally think it is just a gimmick to distract you from the new smaller-size can for the same price.
To answer your question, definitely call the doctor before switching formula. The doctor may know things about the new formula that you don't.
