Dr Browns versus Playtex Drop ins baby bottles?
Which bottle do you think is better for formula feeding? Dr. Brown's or Playtex drop ins? my son gets very gassy
The most important factors have nothing to do with the bottle brand. The gas comes from 3 places - 2 of which you can change.
1. Air in the bottle - please keep the bottle tilted so no air contact with inside of nipple. So propping bottles is a no-no. Dr. Brown's and drop ins just have a different mechanism to reduce the air/nipple contact.
2. Air sucking in at baby's mouth. Every baby latches to a bottle nipple differently. If you hear sucking/slurping/smacking sounds when your baby eats then they need a different size/style of nipple to improve their latch. You shouldn't hear any noise at their lips.
3. Your baby's digestion.
Other idea - I find a lot of parents believe there baby is gassy when they are not. Explain the specifics to your baby's doctor. ? reflux, colic, formula intolerance, etc.
