At the beginning of Final Fantasy 8, who is the woman who greets Squall at the nurse's office?
Squall is lying there and some lady in a green dress with a blue shawl bends down next to him and says
"Squall, so we meet again."
I don't know who she is and Squall doesn't know who she is. It's driving me nuts!!! I'd finish the game and find out, but my copy is glitched and it froze. Please help me out!!
Her name is Ellone, and she is Squall's adoptive sister.
Her parents died when she was young, and she later adopted by Raine. Raine and Laguna (who Ellone considered aunt and uncle) had a child, Squall.
Squall and Ellone were put into the orphange run by Edea and Cid, but Ellone was taken away by Esthar soliders under orders of Adel and Squall was left alone at the orphanage (this is one of the reasons he's a loner in the game, as everyone he loved was taken from him).
She was used in experiments which allowed Ultimecia (the real game boss) to send her mind back through time and control other Sorceresses, turning Edea evil (but she's actually a loving mother figure at one point to all the SeeD characters, except Rinoa who wasn't an orphan nor SeeD).
Laguna went to the orphanage to get Ellone back after learning of Raine's death. He never knew about Squall until during the game. She stayed with Laguna at Esther since he defeated Adel and was elected president. She is the one responsible for sending the party back through time to relive the events played out by Laguna, Kiros and Ward.
On a side note, Rinoa's mother was Julia, the singer Laguna had a crush on. So at one point both their parents had a thing for each other.
