Is it possible to make Neosure formula from 22 claories into 20 calories?

My son is 7 months old but he was born at 30 weeks. He is so big and chubby now that I think I should lower his calorie intake. I have a case of neosure formula and don't want to waste it. Is there a way to lower the calories by adding less powder and more water?

I am not trying to put my baby on a diet. He is now on a high calorie formula, which is 22 calories. The normal formula calories is 20. I think he will be fine on a 20 calorie formula now that he is caught up on weight.
He is 17 lbs.

You should talk to your pediatrician. My almost 9 month old is 28 pounds but the doctor says that he's perfectly healthy and proportionate for his height (even though I think he's a bit chunky) which means you don't need to lower his calorie intake.

Babies need their bit of fat stores, believe it or not, because they will need them to burn once they learn to walk and run around a lot. When a baby turns one year old then they usually lose their appetite and don't take in a lot of calories because they stop taking in breastmilk or formula. But they are also more mobile and running around so they need the chub. Believe me, he will be running it off in no time.

If your doctor thinks that the high calorie formula (Neosure) is too much for him now that he's gained weight, then they will recommend a formula that you can switch to that isn't so high in calories.

I hope this helps. :)

ETA: My baby was 17 lbs at 3 months old. Unless we know how tall he is also, we can't judge whether or not there's a problem with his weight...
