Does or has anyone used soy infant formula? Has is caused your baby abdominal pain?
We are having to use this because our 6week old baby can't keep down milk based or lactose free formulas. But he cries terribly, as if in pain, with almost every bowel movement. He did not do that in the hospital, but they didn't change his formula until just before leaving.
At his 2 week check up, the doctor said that a lot of babies cry over BMs, just adjusting to having them. Neither of our other 2 children did this. That answer was fine then, but now at 6 weeks, it seems that he is crying about something more. It's like he is crying with abdominal pain. It's not a cry that can be comforted. He settles down after the BM is over.
I plan to record some of them with the camcorder before his next checkup to show the doctor. We aren't first time parents freaking out over everything, and we are both in the medical field.
I have found nothing on the internet answering this and have read several articles pro and con to soy formulas. Anyone experience the same?
I had that problem too with my 11 month old, he has been on soy sense he was 1 month old. His Doctor told us it was gas and put him on gas drops (over the counter). It helped out a lot. Also soy formula tends to harden the stool. He is fine now. You might want to get an second opinion. It might be something else. Good luck.
