My guinea pig is on her 65th day of pregnancy.. WHEN?!?
I have a guinea pig who was bred with a stud/show guinea pig. She's going to produce lilac/chinchilla babies probably. She's been pregnant for 65 days, and her babies have been literally been doing jumping jacks inside of her stomach. She's under 9 months approx 7. I've been giving her oranges apples and lettuce every other day and alfalfa /timothy hay daily. My question is when is she going to have them?! She's been licking her private for 1 second periods, and she's fatter than a football. Is there anything I can do to help with the process such as putting out a blanket or anything special to make her feel more comfortable to give birth? Thanks in advance

The gestation of a guinea pig is 63-74 days so your guinea pig will soon have those babies. If she has had a second mating, she may be due a little later. Your guinea pig sounds very close but some animals are deceptive.
Other signs of labor you should look for in guinea pigs are:
1: She will get a gap between her hip bones at the base of the spinal cord. You will be able to feel this with your fingers. This usually happens 24 hours before the birth, as her pelvis widens. To check this, have her on the table facing you, run your fingers down her spine and when you get to the end of the spinal cord, gently feel for two bones. The gap between them will slowly get bigger before the birth. Her pelvic bones usually widen to about 3.5 cm.
2: She will lick her genital area when the birth is near.
3: She usually won't eat for 24 hours before the birth (however, every guinea pig is different).
4: She may drink a greater amount of water.
5: She will lie down and rest more often or seem restless or quite uncomfortable.
6: She may lie on her side and start to have labored breathing.
7: When she is very close, she will stunt to hunch up every now and again, (this is the contractions).
8: Guinea pigs make a grunt noise before they go into labor but sometimes the guinea pig grunts, it means the first baby has arrived.
Usually guinea pigs give birth at night or in early morning, but my guinea pig gave birth right in the middle of the day, so every guinea pig is different.
If your are lucky to witness the birth, then just be calm and very quiet, most guinea pigs deliver normally and mother their babies without any help from human activity.
Some sows refuse to clean their babies so if the mother has not cleaned the sack from the babies, you must act quickly and do this ASAP. Pinch the sack at the babies nose so it can breath. Then use a damp cloth to clean the babies and then return them to their mother. If something is wrong with one of the babies, the mother will usually eat or kill it.
Normal labor should be short and sweet. The whole process to first contractions to the last baby can be as short as fifteen minutes and up to forty, depending on how many she has. There should be little or no blood, especially before the babies have been produced. If you see your sow bleeding, more then a tablespoon, dripping blood, or many pieces of blood in the bedding with no babies, then it would be best to take the guinea pig to the vet. Most likely the babies are too big to come out, or one has punctured the uterus and need an emergency cesarean.
Don't feed her lettuce or cabbage, as they have little to no nutritional value and can cause gas, bloat and/ diarrhea in the gastric stomach and anal glands.
Just keep an eye on her.
