Baby's first outfit(s)?
I'm due with my son in January (in Iowa) so it will definitely be cold outside at least although I know my husband would warm up the car first before we bring baby home. My question is what kind of clothing should I bring for him to wear at the hospital and coming home? Onesie or sleep 'n' play with receiving blankets for at the hospital? I have a fleece snowsuit (yes with separate legs so the car seat can be buckled) and it has a hood; does he still need a warm hat or just any hat? Does he need socks if he is wearing a sleep 'n' play? How many changes of clothes for him should I pack?

You should buy the Bundle me for the infant car seat. It goes right over the infant seat and zippers up the side. He will be fine in a onesie and a hat (any hat). My son was born in January also. He won't be outside that long and you don't want him to overheat in the car. You can buy the Bundle Me (by JJ Cole) in Babies R Us and they come in fleece for the colder months and a lighter weight one for the spring. It is one of the best things that I bought for my baby b/c you don't have to worry about a blanket. Here is the website I found for you.

As for the diaper bag on the way home from the hospital you really won't need much. Keep it pretty much empty for all the stuff you take home form the hospital....take as many diapers as you can!
