Fleece Lined Pants
A question for the cloth diapering mamas?

Has anyone used fleece lined pants as a diaper cover?
I have seen fleece lined pants being advertised as "diaper covers", but it seems to me like the fleece would not be able to breathe and the outer fabric would get wet.
I want to get some for my son, but I don't want to waste the money if they don't work as a cover.

I haven't used them myself, but I'm told that polar fleece makes a great diaper cover. It resists absorption *and* allows the skin to breath, so it makes a pretty good soaker. If you sew, they're actually pretty cheap to make yourself. There's a few patterns here: http://katrinassqs.blogspot.com/2007/10/free-soaker-pattern.html

You can also use old 100% wool sweaters for soakers.

Technically, they wouldn't be a waterproof cover, they would be a soaker. Fleece isn't meant to act the same way PUL does, by repelling the fluid. It sort of soaks it up without letting it through, hence the term soaker. Wool works the same way. They work differently than PUL works as a cover.

Seth, this isn't a question about usernames. I think it would be best if you kept your opinions out of it unless they relate to her question. Her username doesn't violate the TOS. Technically, your answer could be considered chat or ranting, which are violations of the TOS (although that might be a stretch). I don't have any intention of reporting you, but I think you should be aware.
