Dropside Crib
Baby stands, bounces in bed & chews on the railings. What to do?
Ok so John will be 1 on August 11th and in the past week he's discovered that he can stand up and bounce in his bed. He also learned that he can chew on the crib railings. I've got a Graco convertible crib, changing into a daybed and a toddler bed. The problem is my son is an active sleeper and will be in different places in his bed all the time. He just learned to cruise and has not yet figured out how to climb (although I'm expecting this any day now). I'm afraid that if I take the dropside down he will fall out of bed and can't get back in. Oh, and the mattress is down as far as it can go. So what can I do for my little guy to make him stop this behavior?
He has surpassed a few milestones all at once. Not much you can do, but as far as biting the railings you can go to Toys R Us and buy some crib railing protectors. I did that with my son who is 14 months. I have heard that most kids start climbing out of the crib around 18 months and as late as two years of age, so you should have a few months before he does that. If you feel you have to make the crib into a toddler bed, you can always put a gate across his room so he won't wonder about and get into something when you are asleep. Good luck....
