extremely bad diaper rash- nothing working. help!?
My son is 11 months old & has the worst diaper rash in the world. He had a little diarrhea for 3 days because my husband fed him hormel macaroni [i'm not saying anything bad about the brand. i'm sure they have some healthy foods. okay probably not]. & it gave him super bad diaper rash. i have tried johnson & johnson cream, a&d, balmex, & Boudreaux's Butt Paste. they all have not made it any better. i change him as soon as he poops & change his diaper every hour for pee [unless he is taking a nap or down for the night]. there was a product called bag balm that is pretty amazing but i can not find it anywhere. wal mart doesn't carry it because it is not FDA approved, even though it has been used for decades. my mom used it on me, my grandma used it on my dad. if anyone has any tips, or knows where to get bag balm from. please let me know!
Actually Brandee6778 is on the right track. Or ped told us the same thing. Pull out baby's baby bathtub and dissove a couple tablespoons of baking soda in a couple inches of warm water in baby tub.
Let him soak in it for about 15 minutes. Afterward, just let his bum airdry. And slather his bum with plain ole vaseline. All those other products can actually make the rash worse. They even burned my poor baby's bum. I tried Butt Paste and he screamed when I applied it. I felt so bad. Never used it again.. regular vaseline seemed to be the best protection.
As others have mentioned.. call his ped and make sure it's not a yeast rash. You should rule that out first before applying any other ointments or creams first.
