Convertible Crib Rail Guard
My daughter is beginning to get too tall for her crib at the lowest setting. We have a convertible crib but..
We didn't know at the time we bought it that the lowest setting on the crib was over six inches higher from the top of the mattress to the floor than a toddler bed!
Our dilemma now is do we keep her in the crib, take off the front panel and put in a guard rail or do we just (spend more money and) buy her a toddler bed?
The big concern we have is that because the crib will still have the other 3 sides at full height she may try to pull up to standing position on one of those side and end up taking a dive head first over the front guard rail. In a toddler crib she'd have the same height railing all around so chances are she wouldn't (initially!) be standing up in her bed.
Did anyone have this dilemma and if so what did you end up doing. BTW, my daughter is coming up on 20 months.
I would think that a convertible crib is fine, they have to meet safety standards...why waste your money on a toddler bed if you don't have to.
