Checking convertible seat for flying?
We're flying down to Florida in a couple of weeks and, of course, bringing Noah along. He'll be 13 months old on Monday and uses a convertible seat.
Did you have any problems checking these at the airport(he will be sitting on our laps during the flight)? Also, did you cover them in a bag(I've seen car seat/stroller bags around)? If so, did it help "protect" the seat any?
Also, I already know my MIL is going to give me crap for keeping Noah rear facing. He's past the weight and age requirements but I've done my research on it and know he's safer this way. Will that be enough of an answer to give her? She has a tendency to run off at the mouth and won't hesistate to make someone feel stupid for doing something.
We'll be in Ocala.
If you can get a car-seat bag to put it in, I would get it. They are not very gentle with things at the airports and it is likely it may get damaged. But it is easy to check.
About keeping him rear-facing. I would not bring it up. If she says something, say his doctor said to keep him rear-facing a little longer so I am following what he says and then quickly change the subject. (If it was me, I would say, I do it this way because I want to and if you don't like it, sorry) But I tend to be blunt.
What part of Florida are you going to?
