when is it safe for a child to sleep on the top bunk?
I really need to get bunks for my toddlers but people have told me not until he is 6??
I can't wait that long for them to share a room!!
I have looked and ensured they are to Australian safety standards ie they are fully enclosed on the top bunk at 30mm height.
Any other ideas?
my boys have bunk beds in their rooms (I live in Australia too).
the top bunk is fully enclosed with a little "fence" and an opening at the end where the ladder goes up. my sons sleep with my older boy (7 on top and my younger boy 4 below) I wouldn't put the little one up top yet because he sometimes staggers into our room really early or in the night if he has a bad dream and I worried he'd fall out. If your child is a good sleeper maybe you will be ok?
Until my older boy was older we just had the bunks separated into two beds in the one room. We have heaps of toy tubs (from bunnings - big red and blue ones) under the beds so it's tidy enough. now they are a little older we put the top bunk back up on top. we just bought cheap pine bunks and painted them.
