Changing Table Storage
Crib or Bassinet? Changing table?
Question 1: Did you use a crib or bassinet? What are the pros and cons of both. Did you like it? Please explain.
Question 2: Did you buy a changing table? Did you use it?
Question 3: What would be the purpose of getting something like this (I feel dumb, but I really don't know)

Is it just to have something to take with you places?
I live in an apartment (i still have a lot of room, but not TOO much room) so I need ways to cut space and places for storage. Help me please (i am registering tomorrow)
1. We have crib and a playard. We are planning on using the playard (see 3) as a bassinet for the first few months because it fits next to our bed and it'll be easier to get her for late night feedings. We picked out this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2983691 because it has a really solid bassinet. The style of mobile is annoying though, I had to cut the sheets and sew holes in it to use both the bassinet and mobile portions.
2. We got a changing table. I think we will use it, mostly because we live in a tiny one room basement apartment and it's either that or our bed--a lot of people don't end up using them, but I think we will because we both have bad backs and I don't want to lean that far over to change her. Most moms I know used/use theirs, or ended up buying one after a few months when they got sick of changing the baby on the floor/couch/bed/chair/whatever. Changing table also have lots of storage space--mine is already crammed full with almost all of her stuff.
3. That is what is called a playard, in days of yore they called them playpens, and my husband and I call ours "the baby cage" lol. They are bassinets that also serve as a safe/contained play area or a crib away from home. They fold up small so you can travel with them. Some babies love them, some hate them. They are great for: a bassinet, travel, visiting family, especially if they have pets, afternoons outside/in the park, having a portable and safe contained space for baby while you are cooking/cleaning/showering, etc. My mom always put special toys in our playards so that we actually begged to go in our cage! They are great, but they aren't a substitute for actually paying attention to your child so if you get one make sure you don't leave him/her in there all the time. Plus, if you end up leaving them in too long, they end up hating the playard, which is bad for the times that you really need to have them in a safe place while you do something.
EDIT:
I also know a lot of moms who used a bureau with a nice changing pad on top, and that saves space while still giving your back a break.
