Anyone have any suggestions on getting a toddler to sleep through the night?
When my daughter was born, she slept in a bassinet in our room. At 6 months she transitioned to her crib, but at the time I was working overnights 2 nights a week and staying awake through the next day when I got home to take care of my daughter. So as you can imagine, when night time came I was exhausted. My daughter would go to sleep in her crib, but when she woke, I would take her in to my bed so I could continue sleeping, all the while knowing the mistake I was making.
My daughter is 21 months old now, and sleeps in her crib until around 12:00 at which point she knows that she can come in to my bed. If I leave her to cry, which I have done on a few occasions she upsets herself to the point where she vomits.
Im just curious if anyone else has faced this problem, and how you corrected it. I would love to have her in her crib sleeping through the night but its very hard to sacrifice sleep.
when my sons were her age they had a toddler bed and did not want to stay in it as you can imagine, so I brought my pillow and blanket in and made a bed right next to their bed on the floor I left when they fell asleep.
this probably took a solid 2-3 months but it was worth it, everyone was amazed when they went to bed at 7pm and never got out of their beds
