Breast Milk storage?
So yay finally i gave birth it was amazing now my milk came in and i leak like crazy i was wondering if some one can tell me if it's ok that i feel up thought the day of pumping the extra milk and put it in to those milk bottle ziplock bags and after that freeze it, is it ok to mix the milk together it's from same day but different pumpings and alsom when storing in frege how =long can it be stored and how long can it be stored in the freezer? thank you very much
Hi you can mix different pumpings... but all the milk to be mixed must be chilled first. what I do now is freeze in 5 oz increments.((I was freezing more than this... the whole days pumping outcome up to 10 oz a bag... that was when I was pumping 4-5 oz 2x day) I usually pump 2-3 oz at a time since I started pumping at every feed. Pump and then fridge that bottle.... pump again and put that bottle in frisge as well. then the next time I pump I combine those 2 bottles into one if its 5 oz I freeze it if not I keep that combined bottle in fridge then pump again...... you get the idea, as soon as I have 5 oz I freeze it in Lansinoh bags. any left stays in fridge til I have 5 more oz. I think you should freeze with in 48 hours max if its going to be stored in freezer if not it stays max 8 days in fridge (10 hrs room temp max) it stays good up to 3 months in regular freezer and 1 year deep freeze
