What does the tog value mean on baby sleeping bags?
My baby sleeps in a long sleeve body suit at the moment because I think her arms get cold. I have a sleeping bag, but dont know the tog of it, but its perfect for now. Is it too warm at this time of year to have her in a 2.5 tog and a long sleeve suit? Those are the ones I have seen most of.
I also see 1 tog summer ones, but its not exactly boiling is it?
It depends on the temperature of your nursery, but unless you have a very cold house the chances are that at this time of year a 2.5 tog sleeping bag and a sleepsuit is too much.
The advice on the back of a gro-bag says that a 2.5 tog sleeping bag should only be used if the temp in the room is less than 18 degrees. That's a very cool room. At that sort of temp I'm putting the heating and a jumper on!
If you keep your house generally warm then a 1 tog sleeping bag is fine for much of the year.
My nursery is about 21 or 22 degrees at the moment and I have my son in a 1 tog sleeping bag and a sleepsuit. Even that is too much apparently - according to the packet he should be in a long sleeved vest and a 1 tog sleeping bag. But I've found he sleeps badly with that little on so I put him in a sleepsuit.
