Getting infant to sleep in his crib ?
My 4 month old baby's pediatrician suggested using a transitional object to get the baby to sleep in his crib. This is an object he'll associate with sleep, which he'll use to sooth himself back to sleep when he wakes up throughout the night.
Examples she gave are: a sound machine that the baby controls, a blanket, a stuffed animal, or a toy that lights up when touched.
What transitional objects have worked for you?
the best way to do it is to have the baby cuddle a blanket or stuffed animal while nursing or taking the bottle.
Eating/nursing/sucking is soothing & comforting... so by doing this, they learn to associate that object with the comfort they feel when eating.
It really works- you just have to be consistant. I din't know about this when my oldest was little, but used this method with my younger two & they both have a lovey that is the ultimate soother.
Try it! When you are feeding him/her, put the blanket or animal right up next to him. Do it every time & after several feedings, your son or daughter will learn that this object is a comfort.
