Has anyone travelled to Istanbul, Turkey with a baby and is it safe?
My friend is getting married in Turkey and our other friend is concerned about the safety of bringing a baby (she will be 9-10 months at the time). Does anyone have experience/advice about traveling with a young child to Istanbul.
Hi there, I have been to Istanbul once. The European side, not the Asian side (not sure if it matters). We stopped there off a cruise ship and did separate from the group and walk around as a family for awhile. The souvenirs were good prices and here no one tried to intimidate us or cheat us like they did in Tunis. The people there seemed friendly and helpful and I did not feel threatened. Someone did buy some expensive jewelery (I guess they are big on gold there) and they got a personal escort back to the ship for safety..but you would need that anywhere I think.
We walked around for a few hours with our family of 4..children that were 2 1/2 and 6 at the time. Will she have a male with her? I know women are not treated the same there so I guess I might worry if she would be alone with a baby..but if she brings her husband or boyfriend or stays with a male friend I think all would be well.
