Baby Bjorn Chair
My 5-week old seems too independent; what am I doing wrong?
My little one does not like carriers (baby bjorn or moby wrap), and will only let me rock her after nursing (she sometimes falls asleep like that, and I will often transfer her to her moses basket). Otherwise, when she's fussy, sometimes she seems to prefer lying on her mat or just laying on her 'bouncy' chair. I feel like there's something wrong b/c my baby doesn't want to be on me in a wap ... or b/c she sometimes seems to want to "self-entertain" rather than be entertained by me -- and, of course, I should be most interesting 
-- Any suggestions? Should I be worried that I'm raising "too" independent a baby???
Thanks to all those who answered. I'm not generally a worrier ... just kept hearing or reading that babies 'love to be on their mothers'. Some of your answers in conjunction with the big gummy smiles I got today from her reassured me! Also, she took a nice long nap on me after nursing the afternoon 
At five weeks there isn't a reason to worry. Except that worry is what new moms do best.
I've had babies that love the security of being swaddled, and others that hate it and need to let their feet and arms wave, I've known cuddlers and squirmers and babies who do and do not do all sorts of things, they all grew up normal, intelligent and with their own personalities.
You must be a very good mother to have picked up on and made accommodations to your childs own preferences. There is nothing wrong, you five week old has a lot to learn about her surroundings, and you are just a part of it, later on as baby realizes what you do, baby will be more responsive to your voice and sight, right now baby is still just taking in the territory.
