bringing baby's bath tub on a trip...?
ok. this might be a stupid question. but im going on a trip this weekend with my 3 month old. we live on oahu,hawaii and we're just going to a neighbor island, Big Island for 3 days. so as far as bathing her is concerned, i don't really want to bring along her big bath tub. And im really NOT good at the whole just holding the baby while i bathe her kind of thing, although that's what i may have to do. I do have that big sponge thing that she lays on in the tub. should i just bring that and have her lay on that? ..i know this is a dumb question. some of my friends say that maybe i dont have to bathe her at all...since it's only for 3 days. But i dont know.. she seems to sleep better after her baths. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
There's several things that you can do and I've tried all of these at different times:
1) just lay baby down on a towel naked and sponge bathe her with a washcloth. No need for a tub of water....just a countertop or other surface.
2) sit in the bathtub and hold the baby in your arms and on your lap and bathe her and then when she's finished pass her off to your husband who would be ready and waiting with a nice hooded towel to dry her.
3)put a washcloth or hand towel in the bottom of a sink....like a kitchen sink. I don't reccomend trying to do it with a regualr bathroom sink unless you have no other choice. Anyway, put enough water in the sink to wash the baby and sit her in it supporting her with your arm and washing with the other. It's kinda hard at first, but after a few times you get the hang of it.
4) since it's only 3 days you could wash her the night before you leave, sponge or wipe her down the next night and then do the same the last night and wash her first thing when you get home again.
5) get one of those inflatable tubs ...like the rubber ducky and use that to wash her in.
